Bill Gates to finally receive his Harvard degree

It's not like he needs it to beef up his résumé, but the world's richest college dropout finally is getting his degree.

Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft, will speak at Harvard University's commencement ceremony in June 2007 and, like all commencement speakers, will receive an honorary degree from the institution.

It's hard to guess if Gates, the wealthiest person in the world and co-founder of a company that brought in $44 billion in revenue last year, cares. But the programming whiz who once dropped out of Harvard will likely feel some sense of satisfaction.

Gates arrived at Harvard as a freshman in 1973 and while there got to know Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO, who lived just down the hall. Gates already had discovered his interest in software, having programmed computers since the age of 13. While at Harvard, Gates helped develop a version of the programming language BASIC for the first microcomputer, the MITS Altair.

During his junior year, Gates dropped out of the university to work full-time on Microsoft, a company he and his childhood friend Paul Allen founded. In hindsight, it's hard to criticize that decision.

The commencement ceremony takes place June 7 2007. Harvard awards honorary degrees in different subjects, but doesn't announce the subject in advance.

In July next year, Gates plans to step down from his day-to-day role at Microsoft to devote most of his time to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the philanthropic organization dedicated to solving global health problems and funding educational programs. He'll remain chairman of Microsoft.

Creating Blog Posts From Office 2007 … The Process !!

Here is a tutorial for creating Blog posts directly from the new Office 2007.

Firstly create a new office document in word 2007 and you get the option for a new blog post.

Then we create the post as I am doing with all the stuff that you have to put in the blog post.

After this is accomplished you need to setup the account for which you need to create this post to. Select the Manage Accounts from the clearly visible interface of word 2007 for blogging.

Now choose the blog account from the list shown.

Now enter the user name and the password for the account. Since I use Blogger it asks for the Blogger Account.

It then connects to Blogger and detects my blog "Computer Da Puttar"

Once the Account is all set up you just need to press the publish button to post the blog post. The images need to be hosted on some server and in my case I am using the server which hosts my website. The images then get uploaded and the post gets published linking the images from my server to the blog.

The interesting thing here is that I can use all the formatting including colors, shadow effects and reflections which are a part of the new Office's features and spell checks with the comfort of word which were not available to me while posting through the web based manner in the case of Blogger.

From now onwards all the posts will come through office 2007. This is a great new feature which I am enjoying to the fullest !!

Well since Microsoft Office is officially released now, Microsoft has released an e-book named

"First Look - Microsoft Office System"

The book has comparisons of the new office with the older versions. Apart from this the book also has the newer features explained which are actually quite useful.

Personally i think office 2007 is one of the finest releases done by Microsoft.

Download the book from HERE
